Add and edit text
Canvas and PagesReview draft
On this page
Use text assets for titles, captions, numbering and short notes. For sections, tables and continuous prose, ask Agent to create a document; see text and tables.
Add text
Choose Add text in the left toolbar, click to place a box or drag to set its width, and type. Press Escape to leave editing, then position the box. Escape also cancels an accidental text-creation action.
Edit content and formatting
Single-click selects the asset; double-click its text to edit. Position the cursor or select text, then use the toolbar for size, weight, color, emphasis and alignment.
| Adjustment | Action |
|---|---|
| Emphasize one word | Select it before applying bold or color |
| Paragraph alignment | Select text or place the cursor in the paragraph |
| Change wrapping | Exit editing and resize the box width |
| Move a title | Exit editing, then drag the box |
Boxes can expand downward as text grows. After deleting text, adjust excess space and surrounding content. Canvas text is not a full word processor; export complex documents to DOCX for further editing.
Context matters
During typing, Delete/Backspace removes text. Outside editing, it deletes the selected text asset. Ctrl/Command + A selects text in the editor and canvas content when focus returns to the canvas.
If another person's occupancy indicator appears, wait for them to finish before editing the same content.
