Transfer ownership and leave a team
Account, workspace, and billingReview draft
On this page
A workspace must retain an owner. Owners must transfer responsibility to an eligible member before leaving. Others can leave through General settings.
Transfer ownership
As owner, open Workspace settings / Members. The successor must already be an admin or member; collaborators and viewers cannot take over directly. Select owner in their role menu, read the confirmation and verify their identity. Confirm and check the list. Your role becomes admin.
This changes management and payment authority. The successor should take responsibility for members, plans and payments. Renaming a workspace, sharing a project or granting project Manage access is not ownership transfer.
Leave
Open Workspace settings / General / Leave workspace, read and confirm. If blocked because you are owner, transfer first.
Leaving removes membership access but does not automatically delete workspace files. Returning requires a new invitation and permissions. It does not leave other workspaces or delete your account.
| Goal | Action |
|---|---|
| Change team owner | Transfer ownership |
| Stop participating | Leave workspace |
| Remove someone else | Member removal |
| Revoke one project | Project permissions |
| Close the entire workspace | Owner deletes workspace |
Deletion affects everyone and all content. Deliver any work you need to retain while you still have access and export permission.
