Interior floor plan design
Skill manualsReview draft
On this page
Develop an existing plan for a defined use, such as a cafe, library, or clinic. Start with functional zoning, then a colored furniture plan, and optionally representative interior views.
Prepare materials
Supply a plan showing perimeter, columns, openings, and partitions. Explain specialized functions, style, fixed conditions, area data, room lists, equipment, and visitor/service circulation needs.
Specify whether you need zoning and a developed plan only, or renderings too. This Skill requires an existing plan; text requirements alone need a plan before design can proceed.
Develop the layout
- Select this Skill and attach the plan and brief.
- Review functions, area allocation, circulation, and facilities against actual operation.
- Check zones, entrances, and adjacencies; correct problems before refinement.
- Review the colored furniture plan and area proportions.
- If needed, select key spaces for renderings based on the developed plan.
Example: “Keep the rear service entrance and columns. Separate seating, counter, and back-of-house. Produce zoning and furniture plans only.”
Review and revise
Check that entrances and structure remain intact, required functions are present, furniture does not block routes, and service/customer flows work. Verify visual proportions against original dimensions.
Name the revision level: furniture changes can retain zoning, while changed zoning requires updated furniture plans and renderings.
An engineering-drawing style is still an image, not editable CAD or a completed code review. Supply specialized project requirements. For renderings from an established layout, use Interior design workflow.
