Urban furniture workflow

Skill manualsReview draft

On this page

Use photographs, renderings, or a site plan to select coordinated seating, lighting, signage, and other furniture for a street, park, waterfront, or community space.

Prepare materials

Supply clear site imagery, site type, main users, and facilities to retain. A site plan helps explain distribution. Include style references, maintenance needs, and material preferences.

Select and develop furniture

  1. Select this Skill, attach images, and explain use: “Prepare a category list of easy-to-maintain furniture for this neighborhood walking street.”
  2. Check the inferred site type and list. Include play equipment, barriers, or bicycle parking only where actual needs justify them.
  3. Choose a list for configuration discussions or concept images to compare form, material, color, and setting.
  4. For images, specify shared design preferences. If a plan is available, distinguish fixed locations from suggested ones.
  5. Review overall coordination and revise only affected categories where possible.

Review the result

Check user needs before form, materials, and quantities. Seating, bins, lights, and signage should share a coherent design language.

A blurry or unscaled plan supports indicative distribution, not construction locations. Verify quantities against area and intensity of use. To derive facility requirements from project scale, use Landscape facility planning and concepts.
